Great news for Marvel fans in Edinburgh. The Old Town is set to be transformed into a superhero infused world as scenes from Avengers: Infinity War start filming on Saturday.
Filming for Marvel’s next multi-superhero blockbuster began shooting in Atlanta last month with Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), and Tom Holland (Spider-Man) already on set.
In Edinburgh, aerial shots with drones will start in the Old Town. It hasn’t been confirmed yet however, when main cast members like Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Chris Evans (Captain America) will turn up in the countries Capital.
The filming schedule (so far) 18th March – 6th April 2017
- Crews start lighting tests and setting up equipment March 18th/19th for filming on Cockburn Street and Royal Mile.
- Filming on Cockburn Street on Monday and Tuesday from 6pm.
- Filming on Royal Mile for a week from March 30th.
- Small expulsions to take place in the area April 2nd and 6th
Film company, Assembled Productions III UK Ltd have notified the residents and businesses in the area of the road closures for filming night scenes near Cockburn Street and Parliament Square.
Other Marvel stars that are currently signed up for the first of the two upcoming Avenger films include; Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk) and . If you are one of the lucky one to living on the named streets, you might just get the chance to see some of the stars strutting up and down your area.
Avengers: Infinity War will be released in the UK April 2018.
